Taylor Swift Left “Devastated” As Fan Dies Before Era Concert in Brazil.
Taylor Swift posted a message on her Instagram story mourning the death of fan Anna Clara Benevides,23, who died on Friday before her show in Rio De Janeiro.
“I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this. There’s very little information I have other than the fact she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young,” Swift wrote.
According to Brazilian newspaper Folha De S. Paulo, during the concert, Benevides fell ill and fainted. She died due to cardiorespiratory arrest.
A friend of Benavides said Miss Anna was revived for 40 minutes, and while on the way to the hospital, she had a second cardiac arrest.
Brazil has been experiencing an extreme heatwave recently, with red alerts warning citizens of a danger to their health. During Swift’s concert, the temperature reached 39c in the city. And inside the venue, which held over 60 thousand fans, the temperature measured 60C.
Despite the unbearable heat, the organizers prohibited fans from carrying water bottles into the venue.
During the night, firefighters reported thousands of fans suffered from fainting and vomiting caused by dehydration.
Some even stated the audience was chanting “water, water, water.”
Brazil’s justice minister, Flavio Dino, posted on X (known as Twitter) that fans must be allowed to bring in their water bottles.
He ordered T4F Entertainment (tour organizers) to provide fans with free and easily accessible drinking water.
Swift distributed water bottles to fans and asked staff to do the same during her concert.
The singer will perform in Edinburgh, London, Liverpool, and Cardiff during her UK tour in June 2024.
