Rockstar FINALLY Announces GTA 6 Release and Trailer

Gaming Controller

Gaming fans have been speculating about the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 for so long now that sequel has almost achieve a myth status!

But now gaming giants Rockstar and Take Two have sent the gaming community into meltdown as they announced that the release of GTA6 trailer will be shown before Christmas on Tuesday December 5.

The game itself will likely go on sale towards the end of 2024 – a long time to wait if you’re enthralled by the trailer!

New Girl

Rumours have been swirling about the possible gaming content including the all-important protagonists.

The new game will feature GTA’s first ever playable female character, Lucia who is an Hispanic woman in her late 20s or early 30s, according to GTA 6 Newswire. Rumour has it that gamers will also be able to play as Jason, Lucia’s boyfriend, as they navigate their way through the gritty criminal underworld of GTA.

Map

Traditionally, each Grand Theft Auto open-world has been based on a real American city.

Although there’s been no official confirmation about where this game will be set, Rockstar posted a graphic for the announcement of the trailer release on social media featuring an orange sunset with silhouetted palm trees, suggesting that this version of GTA may be based on Vice City from the 2002 game.

With the possibility of online updates, Bloomburg have speculated that GTA 6 could go beyond anything players have ever experienced in the past, with an ever-expanding world featuring new cities and areas as the game is continuously developed.

Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick also seemed to tease at ground-breaking new gameplay as he said that GTA 6 ‘’needs something you’ve never seen before’’.

He went on to say that the studio should ‘’just seek perfection. Seek nothing short of perfection and we’ll get there’’.

If past versions of the franchise are anything to go by, GTA V, the new release’s successor, sold an eye-watering 190 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling video games of all-time and the fastest selling game ever in the UK. It’s more than likely that GTA 6 will make similar splashes.

Following an announcement last month about a December release date, Rockstar said:

‘’Thanks to all the incredible support of our players worldwide, wwe have had the opportunity to create games we are truly passionate about – without you, none of this would be possible, and we are so grateful to all of you for sharing this journey with us’.

‘’In 1998, Rockstar Games was founded on the idea that video games could come to be as essential to culture as any other form of entertainment, and we hope that we have created games you love in our efforts to be part of that evolution’’.

In the end, all fans can do – yet again – is speculate. Rockstar’s post on X has already racked up around 26 million views and 41 thousand comments with many fans joking that the release of the game has been continually rumoured and pushed back.

The release of the game’s trailer on Tuesday will undoubtedly take social media by storm. Watch this space!
